“Macho Man”, Take 2

Driscoll elaborates about the “Macho Man” video in Basecamp news, and it helps frame his earlier comments and adds insight for church growth and leadership… I’m on the hunt now for his materials on “assessment”. It’s only a few minutes long, and worthwhile:

If you’re reading about “the Restless Reformed” in the zine, you’ll see what I mean. He throws a dose of Calvinism in there to keep it real…

  1. I know character is really important and other giftings are involved, but how could you know if you’re gifted as an apostle if you’ve never tried to plant a church?

  2. Well Kalie, as with other gifts, you probably find out in the act of doing it. Of course, gifts aren’t the issue — ministries are. So we all perform various ministries (even church-planting opportunities arise for many), and we find some do better than others, some ministries are easier than others, and this is how the gifts become clear. Still, the ministries must go on, whether led by gifted or un-gifted people.
